• Rebecca Gould I'm excited to announce that I'll be leading monthly Breath Empowerment in Seattle, starting February 19. I will also be leading a two hour workshop that includes Breath Empowerment and Level 1 form in Anacortes, WA on January 28. Here is a link for the Anacortes workshop: http://anacortescenterforhappiness.org/breath-empowerment-workshop/ Here are the details for the first Seattle monthly Breath Empowerment: Join me for a Celebration of Life with Breath Empowerment on February 19th! I will be offering monthly Breath Empowerment in Seattle from now on. This first date is significant though, as it marks the 16 year anniversary of a nearly fatal car accident I was in at the age of 16. Had it not been for this accident (not just surviving it, but the actual accident itself), perhaps I would not be here teaching qigong. And had it not been for the healing power of qi, I would not have healed so miraculously. Or perhaps I still would have found my way to these incredible practices. Either way, let's celebrate life by breathing more deeply and fully than ever and getting blissed out on oxygen and qi! On Sunday, February 19, from 5:30-7pm, experience the Breath Empowerment, a combination of Pranayama and Qigong breathing that leaves your body humming with the vibration of healing energy while creating a deep sense of meditation and connectedness. This is one of the most intense and powerful breathing practices you will ever experience! One of the few physical exercises you can do which increases your body’s alkalinity, this practice is extremely healing and your body will feels the vibration for much longer as you achieve levels of relaxation and overall body wellness. This sacred practice from India routinely produces profound experiences in people. "Breath Empowerment is simply amazing. I feel like I am bathing in bliss. It is a must experience and I look forward to returning. The work and effort is worth the reward and Rebecca provides a safe and supportive environment for the experience to unfold." — J.R., Seattle, WA Breath Empowerment for beginners is a 35-minute practice in which you’re lying on a mat or pad on the floor and being guided along by a certified instructor. There will be detailed explanation and instruction regarding Qigong Breathing and the Warrior's Breath techniques before the practice begins; for more details visit my website for further preliminary explanation. After it ends, we typically share our experiences and/or practice some qigong movements to get grounded. At future Breath Empowerments we will practice Supreme Science Qigong if incorporating movement, since Breath Empowerment comes from Supreme Science Qigong. However, at this one we just might end with some Sheng Zhen Qigong instead, and I'll explain why on the 19th. Preregistration is required by February 16, and space is limited. $15-$20 sliding scale. Payment can be made online, over the phone, or through postal mail. Online payment link coming soon. PLEASE NOTE: Although this practice is safe and healing, it is not advised for those who are pregnant or have seizure disorders. And individuals with irregular heart beat, high blood pressure, or asthma are discouraged from participating in Breath Empowerment without professional guidance. • Rebecca Gould So called "Laura Woods" is at it again with an email scam. Just a heads up to new teachers out there, if you receive a message from overseas asking that you "take her daughter" for private lessons... On the bright side, it surely is inspirational thinking about legitimate requests for private instruction! ;)

  • Laura Jagla Skallerup The other night I was watching some old Perry Mason episodes on-line, ...ignoring commercials, until one DID catch my attention, Wim Hof poking his head out of a hole in the ice of a frozen lake. Checked it out further to find he is the star spokesman of the new line of Columbia clothing that heats up with the touch of a button! For fun, check him out on You Tube, there is a lot of Wim to see lol ..What an INSPIRATION :) especially now that snow has returned to Northern Michigan!

  • Rebecca Gould Hello, everyone! Within just a few days of returning to Seattle from Level 2 training in Orlando, I sealed the deal on teaching ongoing weekly classes at a yoga studio. I'm excited to announce that starting in January, 2012 I'll be teaching the Level 1 form twice a week at Yogalife Greenlake in Seattle! Please spread the word whether you live in Seattle or just know people who do. Thanks! Details below: When and Where: Mondays and Wednesdays 8:45am-9:45am (Starting January 2, 2012) Your first class is FREE! Subsequent class prices are based on Yogalife Greenlake's pricing. Yogalife Greenlake 7200 Woodlawn Ave NE Seattle, WA Class description: Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”), is the mother of Tai Chi and Acupuncture and referred to some as Chinese Yoga. In this 60-minute class, you will experience: • Taoist Yoga featuring deep meridian stretching to open your energetic channels • a short meditation to connect with our breath and our intention • Supreme Science Qigong, Level 1 Healing Form: Empty Force, Spiraling & Pressing on Qi, Cloud Hands, Earth Hands, Around the World, and Push Hands These practices are designed to help you feel external energy while increasing circulation throughout your body, have greater focus, and build strength, all the while relaxing your body and mind. The Qi-Energy is so tangible in this Qigong system that experts of Yoga, Meditation, and even practitioners of other styles of Qigong are amazed by how strong it is. The focus is on building a qi-energy (aka prana) reservoir in your core and being more aware of balance, breath and alignment, which will ultimately cross over into your Yoga practice and other activities as well. During this class, we go through the movements slowly, with the intention of having correct posture and form to maximize the circulation of energy throughout the body. Beginners follow along easily in this powerful and enjoyable practice. Although we sometimes hold a posture longer to make corrections, we primarily flow from one movement to another, attaining a deep meditational state to promote relaxation while strengthening the muscles and improving circulation, flexibility, and an overall sense of wellbeing. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Instructor Bio: Rebecca Gould is a joyful and passionate instructor, thrilled to bring Qigong to Yogalife. Qigong (Chi Kung) combines movements, breathwork, meditation, visualization and relaxation to achieve harmony of the body, mind and spirit. It is referred to some as Chinese Yoga. Qi (pronounced “chee”) is energy. Gong is the cultivation of qi and its benefits. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, Qigong is the foundation of Tai Chi and Acupuncture and has been practiced in China for thousands of years for disease prevention and treatment. It is a gentle yet powerful practice. Rebecca discovered Qigong in 2006 at a weekend workshop, after which she continued practicing and found herself feeling more joy and confidence, as well as playfulness in movement and life than she had in years. She experienced such a radical transformation in her physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing that she decided to become a teacher and ultimately dedicate her life to sharing these ancient healing practices with others. After training for the required 2 year minimum before becoming a certified instructor of Sheng Zhen Qigong, Rebecca received certification and has been teaching since 2008. Since then, she has also acquired certification in Supreme Science Qigong, which is what she offers at Yogalife. In Rebecca’s Qigong class, you’ll find yourself experiencing a moving meditation in which you feel deeply relaxed while also gaining and increasing your energy. You will build up your muscular endurance simply through the way in which you stand during the practice. Rebecca’s calm voice guides you through with precise instruction and imagery to enhance your ability to learn the movements with ease and proper alignment, thereby enhancing your ability to feel the qi-energy and derive maximum benefits. Rebecca is a Mercer Island and Seattle native and holds a Liberal Arts Degree from Hampshire College. Outside of the studio, she owns her own business Elemental Harmony, offering massage, craniosacral therapy and qigong both in her office and on location. For more on Qigong, visit her website: www.elementalharmony.info/qigong

  • Lydia McKeithan I started Qigong L-1 in Austin, Tx and just finish completing L-2 in Orland, Florida and found it to be very rewarding and amazing. I have thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie I have shared with the people I've met. Everyone has been extremely supportive, especially, Kevin, Steve and David, in helping me reach my form before test time. I love the full body cleansing, drawing the bow and nine breathe exercise and I practice it everyday. Doing my Qigong exercises and forms have help me by staying focus, energized and it is very calming for me. Thank you, Jeff, for your leadership.
